X-ray physics

An X-ray examination provides detailed images of various tissues in the body and helps your doctor to make a diagnosis or to carry out a procedure.

At X-ray examinations equipment is used for

  • conventional radiography
  • computed tomography (CT)
  • fluoroscopy
  • dental radiology
  • mammography

The radiation dose at each X-ray examination is customized to be as low as possible but still provide the desired information. Radiation dose depends on the type of survey you are undergoing and is influenced by factors such as examination techniques, equipment and number of images. The more complex the inquiry, the higher the radiation dose. Compared with the benefits of an X-ray examination the risk of radiation is small.
